John Giorno Foundation appoints Anthony Huberman as executive director
Anthony Huberman has been named the new executive director of the John Giorno Foundation, succeeding Elizabeth Dee. He’ll oversee the public programming at 'The Bunker,' Giorno's old loft at 222 Bowery in New York. This space will soon open its doors for various events, like lectures, performances, salons, retreats, a study center, and a library. The Bunker, which was Giorno's home and studio for over fifty years, also had ties to William Burroughs. Huberman, who currently directs the CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts in San Francisco, previously founded The Artist's Institute at Hunter College and curated shows at notable institutions. Established in 2020, the foundation seeks to preserve Giorno's legacy and support artists across various fields. Huberman envisions The Bunker as a lively center for artistic communities.
