John Bock's Surreal Installations at Fondazione Prada Milan
Fondazione Prada has opened a new exhibition by German artist John Bock (born 1965 in Gribbohm) at its Milan venue, titled "The Next Quasi-Complex." Housed in the Podium space, the show features two large-scale installations from the Prada Collection: the mobile stage from "When I’m Looking into the Goat Cheese Baiser" (2001) and the living room from "Lütte mit Rucola" (2006). Blending installation, sculpture, and architecture, the works are composed almost entirely of ready-made objects, waste materials, furniture, and found items, creating an absurdist theater that ironically subverts categories. Bock has transformed the Podium's ground floor into a surreal and eccentric world intertwining black humor with disciplines like philosophy, economics, music, fashion, and current events. All objects originate from stage sets, previous performance props, or the artist's film sets. The exhibition follows the April 19 opening of the Torre designed by Rem Koolhaas, part of Fondazione Prada's expanded programming that includes a permanent collection, temporary shows, an experimental music festival, and a restaurant.
