John Bock's Artaud Homage at Frac Paca

exhibition · 2026-04-23

From July 2 to October 8, 2005, John Bock showcased his installations and a performance at Frac Paca in Marseille. The exhibition featured a double theater stage, a machine room, a cardboard prie-dieu sculpture, and the film Meechfieber (2005). On the opening day, Bock paid tribute to Antonin Artaud, presenting his obsessions in a whimsical, existential manner. Since 1992, Bock has transitioned from mobile acting performances to theatrical arrangements that blend multiple art disciplines. His performance unfolded in two segments: the first utilized two stages divided by a partition, while the second revealed secretive operations projected as hazy images. Additionally, at Art Basel Unlimited 2005, Bock's video (Porzellan Isoschizo Küchentat..., 2001) illustrated a domestic apocalypse.
