Joey Goebel's novel 'Sunset Flip' launches with German reading tour
Joey Goebel's novel 'Sunset Flip' will be published by Diogenes on May 20, 2024. The book follows wrestler Auggie Schnuck, whose success transforms him into his persona 'The Aug' as he navigates dreams and reality. Goebel, born in 1980 in Henderson, Kentucky, is a writer, screenwriter, and musician whose previous works have been translated into 14 languages. He lives in Henderson, where he teaches English literature. A German reading tour includes five events: May 26 at Literaturhaus Berlin in the CABUWAZI circus tent, May 28 at Literaturhaus Frankfurt, May 31 at Centralkomitee in Hamburg, June 1 at Buchhandlung Jost in Bonn, and June 2 at Theater Paderborn. The novel explores themes of artifice, struggle, and tenderness through Auggie's life with his partner Nadine. Goebel's earlier novels 'Vincent', 'Freaks', and 'Heartland' have gained international acclaim. The tour coincides with other literary events, such as Fatima Daas's readings.
