Joel Meyerowitz Retrospective at Museo di Santa Giulia, Brescia
A major retrospective of Joel Meyerowitz, titled 'A Sense of Wonder. Fotografie 1962 – 2022', opens at the Museo di Santa Giulia in Brescia on March 25, 2025, running until August 14. Curated by Denis Curti, the exhibition features over 90 photographs organized thematically, tracing Meyerowitz's career from the 1960s to the present. Known for pioneering color street photography, Meyerowitz captured intimate moments in New York and during the Vietnam War. In the 1980s, he shifted to nature photography, including meditative landscapes of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and still lifes. The show also includes his 365 self-portraits taken daily during the 2020 lockdown, never before exhibited in Italy. Meyerowitz is considered among the avant-garde photographers of the 1960s, alongside Robert Frank, Garry Winogrand, and Diane Arbus.
