Joe Lycett's 'EVERYTHING MUST GO' exhibition opens at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in July

Comedian Joe Lycett will present his first major solo art exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery starting Wednesday 29 July. Titled EVERYTHING MUST GO, this mixed media show explores themes of absence through deceased celebrities, extinct animals, discontinued chocolate bars, and destroyed buildings. The exhibition draws inspiration from Birmingham's own collection, presented in what the museum describes as Lycett's characteristically playful and childlike aesthetic. General admission will be free to the public. Lycett expressed his excitement about creating what he calls a 'neon graveyard' designed to overwhelm, delight, and confuse visitors with colorful and silly depictions of lost things. Birmingham Museums Trust co-chief executives Sara Wajid and Zak Mensah praised the project, highlighting Lycett's unique artistic approach and his strong ties to the city.
