Joe Hill Appointed Director and CEO of Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Joe Hill has been named the new director and chief executive of Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP), effective 14 April. He will lead the institution's artistic and strategic development as it approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027. Hill, a Yorkshire native and trained artist, moves from his position as director and CEO of Towner Eastbourne, where he oversaw significant achievements including the museum being awarded Art Fund's Museum of the Year in 2020 and hosting the Turner Prize in 2023. During his eight-year tenure there, he also secured funding for an arts and heritage centre at Black Robin Farm. His previous roles include director of Focal Point Gallery in Southend-on-Sea and curatorial positions at Camden Arts Centre, Firstsite Colchester, and the Venice Biennale. In a statement, Hill expressed his excitement about joining YSP, emphasizing his commitment to developing it as a global destination for sculpture while maintaining its strong connections to Yorkshire's communities and landscape. The sculpture park is situated in historic parkland in West Yorkshire.
