Jo-Anne Birnie Danzker Appointed Director and CEO of Biennale of Sydney

Jo-Anne Birnie Danzker has been appointed as the new director and CEO of the Biennale of Sydney. She previously served as director of the Frye Art Museum in Seattle. Birnie Danzker will oversee the 2018 edition of the biennial, which will be curated by Mami Kataoka, chief curator of Tokyo's Mori Art Museum. In a statement, Birnie Danzker expressed honor at joining the Biennale team and returning to Sydney, noting the event's nearly 50-year history as a meeting place for exceptional artists and curators from Australia and globally. The Biennale of Sydney has released a partial list of participating artists for the 2018 edition. The appointment was reported by Artnews in May 2017.
