JMA Mumbai's SeaSky Villa: A White Goa Home Engulfed in Lush Nature
Overlooking the River Tiracol on Goa's border with Maharashtra, the SeaSky Villa by Mumbai-based JMA Mumbai (Jugal Mistri) is a 4,000 sq m residence designed as a series of cascading 'plinths' arranged along a central axis. The architects were given an open brief to express the studio's principles of 'collaboration, community and context'. The site's continuous slope toward the river dictated the spatial strategy. The villa breaks down into smaller volumes with permeable pavilions and colonnades. Three ground-floor bedrooms face the landscape, transforming them into private viewing instruments. Upper levels contain expansive living spaces, a kitchen, dining areas, and an open-air swimming pool. A double-height studio loft on the lower level offers independent living. The project was featured by Wallpaper* Architecture & Environment Director Ellie Stathaki.
