Jinkee Choi's Subversive Works Featured in AHL Foundation Winners' Exhibition at Gana Art Gallery

At Gana Art Gallery in New York, Jinkee Choi showcases her cleverly manipulated found objects, recognized for their incisive humor. This exhibition is part of the AHL Foundation's sixth annual Visual Arts Competition winners' display, where Choi earned the top honor. Titled "Eclectic Visionaries," the show features six artists of Korean and Korean-American descent, curated by Hyewon Yi. Jurors included Nathalie Anglès, Melissa Chiu, and Benjamin Genocchio. Other artists presented are Jarrett Min Davis, who incorporates Korean and American folklore into fantasy realist works; video creator Yeon Jin Kim; still-life photographer Jeonghyun Lee; graphite animator Kakyoung Lee; and sculptor Jaye Moon, celebrated for her sleek Plexiglas valises. The exhibition is open until August 29, 2009, at 568 West 25th Street, emphasizing new talents within the Korean diaspora and promoting cross-cultural dialogue through the AHL Foundation's support for visual artists in the U.S.
