Jinjoon Lee's Audible Garden Explores Digital Synaesthesia at Korean Cultural Centre UK
The Korean Cultural Centre UK in London is hosting Jinjoon Lee's exhibition, Audible Garden, from 1 July to 13 October 2023. This installation utilizes neon-green lighting to delve into themes of memory and artificial synaesthesia. A mural depicts sound through a grid of dots that indicate MIDI note velocities. In Daejeon, Summer of 2023, plaster discs resembling vinyl records are featured, with one spinning on a turntable to transform greyscale values into music. Hanging Garden mixes sounds via rotating speakers, merging urban and natural environments. Thrown and Discarded Emotions converts brainwave data into plaster stones, while Fresh Nature: Black Milk showcases sculptures made from milk bottles with digitally altered colors, challenging the distinctions between natural and artificial experiences.
