Jessica Schuster Hosts Paul Morehouse Sculpture Exhibition in Her SoHo Loft

exhibition · 2026-05-20

Interior designer Jessica Schuster has opened her SoHo loft for "Phoebe," an intimate exhibition of recent sculptures by upstate New York artist Paul Morehouse. The show, on view by appointment for one month starting May 20, 2026, presents a dozen new works installed among Schuster's own furnishings and antiquities rather than in a conventional gallery. Morehouse's sculptures in cork, limestone, stone, metal, and wood—including pieces like Black Diamond (2018), Effigy (2026), and Lay Me Down to Sleep (2026)—mingle with works by Alison Blickle, Alex Katz, Daniel Buren, and Ted Lawson, as well as a Paco Rabanne metal tapestry and African and Pre-Columbian antiquities. The exhibition's title references the Eastern Phoebe bird, a symbol of nostalgia and transformation for the artist. Schuster, who already owned six of Morehouse's sculptures before the show, purchased nearly half of the exhibited works. Morehouse also shows with Bernd Goeckler.
