Jessica Loughlin's First Italian Solo Show at Venice Glass Week

exhibition · 2026-05-05

During Venice Glass Week, Galleria Caterina Tognon hosts the first Italian solo exhibition of Australian artist Jessica Loughlin (b. 1975, Melbourne). The show, titled 'afar', is structured in two sections: a series of opaline glass sculptures called 'light receptors', which react to light exposure shifting from white to blue to warm orange and pink tones; and wall works named 'light landscapes', inspired by the natural phenomenon of Lake Eyre, the world's largest salt lake in the Australian desert. The lake fills with water only briefly each year, and when it recedes, vast salt flats reflect the sun's spectrum, transforming the landscape. Loughlin proposes a contemplative way of observing reality, revealing hidden nuances.
