Jeppe Hein's interactive water pavilion returns to Lenbachhaus forecourt

exhibition · 2026-05-26

The Lenbachhaus in Munich is ushering in summer with Jeppe Hein's engaging water pavilion, titled 'Space in Action / Action in Space'. This installation will be on display from May 22 to September 20, 2026, transforming the museum's forecourt into an interactive space where walls of water respond dynamically to visitors. At first glance, the fountain obscures the view of the Propylaea behind a glistening water curtain. However, as a visitor approaches, the wall unexpectedly collapses, creating an entryway. Shortly after, the water reassembles, isolating the interior from the bustling streets outside. This artwork serves as both a sculpture and an experience, encouraging visitors to engage and immerse themselves in its evolving rhythm, reflecting the essence of the Danish artist's creations.
