Jens Risch and Barbara De Ponti in Dialogue at Viasaterna, Milan
Viasaterna in Milan presents "Forma Mentis," a two-person exhibition pairing Barbara De Ponti (born 1975, Milan) and Jens Risch (born 1973, Rudolstadt). The show explores the material and conceptual implications of the word "forma" (form). Risch's rigorous practice is exemplified by "Silk Piece VI" (2017), a single knotted silk thread approximately one kilometer long that becomes an index of repeated gesture over time. De Ponti's sculptures deliberately blur the line with natural objects: in "Clay Time Code" (2016), she reproduces microorganisms fossilized in the blue clay of the Pleistocene Sea, creating enlarged copies that are both anachronistic and realistic, immersing viewers in a formal and aesthetic short circuit that confronts the ambiguity of representation.
