Jenny Schlenzka appointed director of Berlin's Gropius Bau

Jenny Schlenzka has been appointed as the new director of Berlin’s Gropius Bau, transitioning from her position as Executive Artistic Director at New York’s Performance Space. She takes over from Stephanie Rosenthal, who led the institution from 2018 until 2022. A curator originally from Berlin, Schlenzka is recognized for her advocacy of performance and time-based art. Over her six years at Performance Space, she collaborated with notable artists such as Hannah Black, Donna Haraway, and Juliana Huxtable, greatly enhancing the institution’s reach. Previously, she held roles as Associate Curator at MoMA PS1 and Assistant Curator in MoMA's Department of Media and Performance Art. Schlenzka expressed excitement about fostering dialogue with Berlin’s communities and artists, emphasizing the importance of integrating ephemeral art into major exhibitions.
