Jenny Saville's Florence exhibition becomes a documentary film

exhibition · 2026-04-27

A documentary has been created based on Jenny Saville's extensive exhibition in Florence, which concluded in February and drew more than 200,000 attendees. Curated by Sergio Risaliti, the exhibition took place across several locations, including Museo di Palazzo Vecchio, Museo del Novecento, Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, Museo degli Innocenti, and Museo di Casa Buonarroti. Directed by Francesco Fei and produced by Museo Novecento, the film debuted on October 14 at Teatro San Carlo in Naples during the 27th Artecinema, an international festival dedicated to contemporary art films. It features behind-the-scenes insights, interviews with Saville and museum directors, and examines the relationship between Saville's layered portraits and Michelangelo's masterpieces. The Comune di Firenze promoted the exhibition, which was organized by MUS.E and supported by Gagosian.
