Jennifer Latour's Ephemeral Botanical Assemblages Preserved in 'Bound Species' Series

Vancouver-based artist Jennifer Latour creates sculptural assemblages of flowers and botanicals that appear as otherworldly forms in natural landscapes. Her 'Bound Species' series, begun during lockdown, was inspired by a recurring dream of giant flowers with multiple species growing from one stem. Latour assembles each piece by hand, connecting stems to evoke the interconnectedness of nature. She photographs these ephemeral works outdoors, battling wind and other elements to capture fleeting moments. Her materials are sourced from local garden centers, flower shops, and grocery stores. Latour's images are currently on view in two group exhibitions: 'Where the Seasons Endure' at Gallery COA in Montreal and 'The House and the Forest' at Can Balaguer in Palma, Mallorca. She plans trips to Arizona and the U.K. seaside and aims to take her work to remote locations worldwide. A solo show is planned for 2027.
