Jeju Biennale Announces Lineup; Newby Debuts PDX Mural; Yee to Lead Muara Arts; Ng to Step Down
The fifth Jeju Biennale, titled "Iyahong: The Art of Transformation," is taking place from August 25 to November 15 on Jeju Island, South Korea. This event showcases the works of 69 artists hailing from 21 nations, including local talents Byun Shi-Ji and Kang Yo-bae. Among the featured pieces are creations by renowned Korean artists Lee Ufan and Yun Hyong-keun, alongside international artist Wael Shawky. The exhibition is divided among three locations: "Human" at the Jeju Museum of Art, "Deities" in downtown Jeju, and "Stone" at Jeju Stone Park. Additionally, Kate Newby's mural, The Sound of Trees (2026), was unveiled at Portland International Airport. Lydia Yee has been named the artistic director of Muara Arts in Kuala Lumpur, set to open on November 1, while Louis Ng will resign as director of HKPM in January 2027.
