Jeffrey Shaw Wins Prix Ars Electronica Golden Nica for Media Art Pioneering

As part of the 2015 Prix Ars Electronica, the Golden Nica for Visionary Pioneers of Media Art has been awarded to Jeffrey Shaw. This accolade comes with a monetary prize of up to €10,000 and the opportunity to showcase his work at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz. Since the 1960s, Shaw has delved into various fields, including expanded cinema, immersive environments, virtual and augmented reality, and interactive narrative. He is the founding director of both the ZKM Institute for Visual Media in Karlsruhe and the UNSW iCinema Research Centre in Sydney, while also holding the position of dean at the CityU School of Creative Media in Hong Kong. His contributions are prominently featured in international exhibitions, underscoring his impact on new media art and technology.
