Jeff Koons Designs $40 Phone Case for Google Nexus

Jeff Koons has created his first video work, viewable exclusively on a Google Nexus smartphone. The limited-edition Jeff Koons Live Case, priced at $40, draws from his Gazing Ball series and includes an animated wallpaper and digital artworks. The video features New York City Ballet dancers Ashley Laracey and Troy Schumacher performing to Swan Lake while passing a blue-silver gazing ball, a motif Koons has used since 2013. The case is sold through the Google Store. Koons previously exhibited Gazing Ball paintings at Gagosian Gallery in New York in November 2015, where the reflective sphere appeared in works referencing Old Masters like Titian, El Greco, Courbet, and Manet. Koons describes the gazing ball as a "connection tool" enabling viewer engagement with the artwork.
