Jeff Bark's video project for Altaroma fuses fashion and mythology
American photographer and artist Jeff Bark (born 1963) created a video project for Altaroma, presented during the latest edition of the fashion event as part of The Secrets of Couture. The installation took place at the Ex Caserme Guido Reni in Rome. Conceived by Silvia Venturini Fendi, the project was developed with independent curator and journalist Alessio de'Navasques. It highlights the work of three contemporary couture designers: Antonio Grimaldi, Krikor Jabotian, and Aouadi Paris. Bark's imagery blends the fantastic and postmodern, featuring mythological creatures, fantastic animals, and young Adam and Eve figures in dreamlike landscapes that merge urban outskirts with Pre-Raphaelite paintings. His style is described as a contemporary response to 16th- and 17th-century Roman painting. Bark is considered one of the most representative photographers in the international fashion system.
