Jean-Paul Goujon Publishes Secret Dossier on Pierre Louÿs and Marie de Régnier

Jean-Paul Goujon, a leading specialist on Pierre Louÿs, has compiled a 'dossier secret' featuring a thousand unpublished letters from Louÿs to his brother Georges, a French ambassador, spanning 1890 to 1917. The dossier also includes photographs of Marie de Régnier, taken by Louÿs, revealing intimate details of their stormy relationship. Goujon's research, building on his 1988 biography recently reissued by Fayard, aims to rehabilitate Louÿs's literary reputation, challenging the perception of him as a minor 'decadent' aesthete and erotomaniac. Louÿs, once famous for the novel 'Aphrodite,' was a friend of Gide, Wilde, and Valéry. Goujon has uncovered hundreds of erotic and pornographic texts, many inspired by Louÿs's affairs with the daughters of poet José-Maria de Heredia, particularly Marie de Régnier. The dossier includes written documents and photographs that shed light on Louÿs's passions.
