Jean Paul Gaultier retrospective tours globally, lands in Stockholm
The exhibition titled 'The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk' has made its way to the Arkitekturmuseet in Stockholm, where it will be on display until September 22, 2013. This showcase honors 35 years of the renowned French designer's work, presenting a variety of avant-garde fashion, corsets, and accessories, alongside pieces by contemporary artists and photographers such as Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, and Richard Avedon. The multimedia display is organized into thematic segments: L'Odyssée de Jean Paul Gaultier, Le Boudoir, Skin Deep, Punk Cancan, Urban Jungle, and Metropolis. Notable items include Gaultier's first garment from 1971 and the iconic corsets worn by Madonna during her 1990 tour. The exhibition first launched in 2011 in Dallas and San Francisco, later visiting Madrid and Rotterdam, with a London showing planned for April 2014 at the Barbican.
