Jean-Marie Zazzi's Exhibition 'Un certain regard' at Silvacane Abbey
From September 14 to October 31, 2024, Silvacane Abbey in La Roque d'Anthéron will showcase the artworks of Jean-Marie Zazzi. At the age of 88, the French artist continues to create from his home in Provence. His artistic journey commenced in 1956 with depictions of frozen olive trees, emphasizing nature. Zazzi honed his skills under François Diana at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille and traveled to cities like Florence, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Paris. In 1969, inspired by Nicolas de Staël, he shifted from figuration to a contemplative approach to landscapes. By the mid-1990s, he established a distinctive style characterized by thick oil paste.
