Jean Hélion Exhibition and Book Reissue at Bowery Gallery

An exhibition of works by French modernist Jean Hélion is on view at Bowery Gallery through June 30. A related publication, the 2004 English edition of essays by Didier Ottinger, Henry-Claude Cousseau, Matthew Gale, and Debra Bricker Balken, was published by Paul Holberton Publishing, London. Hélion's 1943 book "They Shall Not Have Me" has been reissued by Arcade. The exhibition was previously at the National Academy Museum in New York from July 14 to October 9, 2005. A short version of an article on Hélion appeared in The Burlington Magazine. Additionally, a show at Tibor de Nagy Gallery ran from June 12 to July 25, 2003, focusing on post-war American painting.
