Je hais les couples at Galerie Valérie Bach, Brussels

Curated by Jeanne Susplugas and Alain Declercq, the exhibition 'Je hais les couples' runs from September 6 to October 26, 2013, at Galerie Valérie Bach in Brussels. Originally initiated in 2012 at Loft CMJN in Paris, the show expands with an updated roster of artist duos. It traces a historical line through works by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Gilbert & George, and Anne and Patrick Poirier. Contemporary pairs include Mrzyk & Moriceau, Cécile Hesse and Gaël Romier, Virginie Barré and Bruno Peinado, Lucy and Jorge Orta, Géraldine Py and Roberto Verde, Maurin & La Spesa, and the curators themselves. Highlights include Lucy and Jorge Orta's ongoing '70 x 7 The Meal' series featuring commemorative plates, Py and Verde's fragile sculptures made from studio waste connected by translucent threads, and Maurin & La Spesa's toxic mixture that slowly dissolves its ceramic container.
