Jazz is a (video)game: concert series merging jazz and video game visuals

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Jazz is a (video)game is a series of concerts pairing jazz music with video game sequences and machinima—films created within video games or using game development tools. The project features machinima by Benoit Paillé, Jordy Veenstra, Riccardo Retez, Luca Miranda, Florian Krepcik, and Ashford Philip Ciampà, with arrangements performed by the Colours Jazz Orchestra, the Young Jazz Art Ensemble, the Corso di Musica Applicata del Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, and the Saint Louis Music College. Two concerts have already taken place: on November 6 at the Roma Jazz Festival and on November 7 at the Museo del 900 in Mestre, both featuring the Young Art Jazz Ensemble directed by Mario Corvini. The next concert is scheduled for November 14 at 18:00 at the Teatro Caio Melisso in Spoleto, with the Colours Jazz Orchestra directed by Massimo Morganti. The project is funded by the Italian Ministry of Culture, supported by the IMF Foundation and Fondazione Musica per Roma, and promoted by Venetojazz, Visioninmusica, and the Roma Jazz Festival.
