Javier de Riba's Pasera: Andalusian Floor Installation Honors Grape Harvesters
During the PACO Festival de Arte en Acción in Montemayor, Córdoba, from June 6 to 8, artist Javier de Riba created a pavement installation titled Pasera. The work pays homage to the town's wine production and the 'paseros'—workers who dry grapes to make raisins for Pedro Ximénez sweet wine. De Riba, a member of the Reskate collective, designed the floor as a public square for rest and conviviality, inaugurated with a communal breakfast. The piece is part of his Floors series, which revives abandoned spaces. De Riba also produced a picnic blanket version of Pasera, made on demand by Top Manta, a social clothing brand run by Barcelona street vendors, to reduce waste and reclaim public space.
