Jason Smith appointed director of Art Gallery of South Australia
Starting in February 2025, Jason Smith will step into the position of director at the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA). Before this, he led the Geelong Gallery. Smith has an impressive background, having served as the curatorial manager for Australian art at the Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, and as the CEO and director of the Heide Museum of Modern Art from 2008 to 2014. He also directed the Monash Gallery of Art in 2007-2008 and worked as a contemporary art curator at the National Gallery of Victoria from 1997 to 2007. His focus will be on improving accessibility and inclusivity while fostering visitor engagement and promoting the gallery's cultural importance.
