Jason Gomez's Canine Masks and Bondage Landscapes at Clima Gallery

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Jason Gomez (Los Angeles, 1986) explores the hybrid relationship between man and dog in his solo show at Clima Gallery in Milan. The exhibition features works such as "Addio del Passato," a canine mask onto which the artist has glued his own hair as a sign of transformation, and "Predicament," an installation depicting Caspar David Friedrich's "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog" suspended from the ceiling with bondage ropes. Two sculptures critique metaphor as a tool for mass control, while "Clonal Hut" presents a future of seriality and genetic modifications producing what nature can no longer create. The text was produced during the Critical Writing course of the Biennial of Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at NABA.
