Jardins N°2 explores re-enchantment through literature and nature
The second issue of the French journal *Jardins*, titled *Le Réenchantement*, has been published by Editions du Sandre. The journal focuses on the garden as a literary space, neither purely technical nor aesthetic. This issue addresses the theme of re-enchantment, a term that often reflects anxiety about a disenchanted world. It features both historical and contemporary texts that resist disenchantment. Topics include the role of nature in the city and the subjugation of nature to art. Didier Semin examines Giuseppe Penone's *Arbre des voyelles* in the Tuileries Garden, noting the troubling similarities between the artist's work and natural mechanisms. Another piece studies poet-gardener Alexander Pope, exploring interior and exterior garden spaces and the problem of enclosure as formulated before Rousseau's *Discourse on the Origin of Inequality*. The issue questions whether gardening redefines private space and whether the gardener's vocation is to give the illusion of wild nature. Therese Moro contributes to the collection.
