Japanese Pop Culture Meets Roman Antiquity at Lausanne Museum

The Musée Romain de Lausanne-Vidy presents 'Kodai, l’Antiquité dans la pop culture japonaise', an exhibition exploring how Japanese pop culture has reinterpreted Ancient Rome. Running from May 29, 2025 to January 24, 2027, the show juxtaposes emperors and gladiators with manga, video games, collectible figurines, and cosplay. The exhibition highlights works such as the manga 'Thermae Romae', which humorously blends Roman baths with modern Japanese culture. The museum examines the lasting influence of Caesar and Roman imagery in Japanese media, offering a cross-cultural perspective on antiquity.
