Susumu Yokota, the Japanese electronic musician and experimental composer, has died at age 54. His passing occurred in March following a prolonged illness, though his family only made the announcement public today. Yokota produced approximately 30 albums during his career, with Sakura (2000) and Grinning Cat (2001) standing as his most recognized works. Before exploring experimental electronica, he built a reputation in Japan's house music scene. The record label Leaf, which released six of his albums from 1999 to 2002, confirmed the news.
