festival-fair · 2026-04-26

A series of new theatre and dance productions debut across Italy in January 2025. In Genoa, the Scottish playwright Zinnie Harris's explosive text 'Come trattenere il respiro' premieres on January 7 at Sala Mercato, directed by Marco Plini and performed by the Reggio Emilia company MaMiMò, before moving to Reggio Emilia from January 15 to 19. In Milan, 'La collezionista' runs from January 9 to February 2 at Teatro dell'Elfo, inspired by Peggy Guggenheim and Luisa Casati Stampa, written by Magdalena Barile, directed by Marco Lorenzi, and starring Ida Marinelli. Brescia's Teatro Sociale hosts an adaptation of Molière's 'Il malato immaginario' by Angela Dematté and Andrea Chiodi, premiering January 14 and touring through January, with Tindaro Granata and Lucia Lavia. At Milan's Piccolo Teatro, 'Memory of Mankind' runs January 15 to 18, created by Swedish director Marcus Lindeen and French dramaturg Marianne Ségol, based on Austrian ceramist Martin Kunze's ceramic tablet collection. Rome's Orbita Spellbound dance season opens January 10 with Enzo Cosimi's 'Venere vs Adone' at Teatro Palladium, running until May 20 across multiple venues, featuring Italian and international artists including Chiara Bersani, Charlie Prince, and Akira Yoshida. FOROF in Rome launches its Public Program on January 24, curated by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, with five performances by Gelitin/Gelatin, (LU.PA), and Aitana Cordero, responding to the exhibition 'Nimbus Limbus Omnibus'.
