January 2025's Major Art Exhibitions Span Islamic Biennale, Brazilian Modernism, and Queer Portraits

The second edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 will commence in Jeddah on January 25, showcasing 31 international artists, all centered around the theme 'And All That Is In Between' at the Western Hajj Terminal. Notable participants include Hayat Osamah, Asim Waqif, and Charwei Tsai. From January 30, London's Victoria Miro will present 'Alice Neel in the Queer World,' curated by Hilton Als. On the same day, the Royal Academy in London will explore Brazilian modernism starting January 28. Additionally, Sean Kelly in New York features Dawoud Bey's 'Stony the Road,' showcasing gelatin silver prints from January 10. Other events include a January 14 symposium from Singapore's Tanoto Art Foundation and Kingsley Gunatillake's solo exhibition 'Maara' on January 23. Citra Sasmita's first UK solo show at Barbican Centre begins January 30, while Suzann Victor's 'Constellations' at STPI Singapore opens on January 15. Łukasz Twarkowski's adaptation of 'The Employees' will be at Southbank Centre starting January 16.
