Jannis Kounellis Installation at 10 Corso Como
Jannis Kounellis's installation of seventy black coats, created in 2009, is on view at 10 Corso Como in Milan from May 13 to June 16, 2026. The work, presented in collaboration with Galleria Fumagalli, transforms the gallery's renovated industrial space into a scene of memory and absence. Each coat functions as a trace of a body, a witness to life, protection, vulnerability, and displacement. The piece resonates with contemporary debates on migration and belonging. Kounellis, born in Piraeus, Greece in 1936 and based in Rome from 1956, was a master of Arte Povera, known for using materials like iron, coal, jute, wax, glass, cotton, and coffee dust. His practice often took art to unconventional spaces such as churches, garages, ruins, and former industrial sites. 10 Corso Como, founded in Milan in 1991 by Tiziana Fausti, is a hub for fashion, design, art, and gastronomy. The exhibition is curated by Alessio de' Navasques and is open daily from 10:30 to 19:30 with free entry.
