Jann Haworth's Women's History Mural at Zazà Ramen in Milan
Jann Haworth, co-creator of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover, has installed her Women's History Mural at Zazà Ramen restaurant in Milan. The work, created with her daughter Liberty Blake, is a growing collage currently comprising fifteen panels, seven of which are displayed as PVC prints at the restaurant since October 17. The mural aims to redress the lack of female figures on the original album cover, which featured mostly men. Haworth involved women with troubled backgrounds in selecting and creating the portraits. Restaurant owner Brendan Becht, a chef and collector, commissions site-specific works for his space, changing exhibitions twice a year. The interview also discusses the permanent murals by David Tremlett in the restaurant's lower floor, created as a gift for the opening in 2014.
