Jane Jin Kaisen's 'Island Beyond the Sea' to Premiere in the Baltic States at Kai Art Center
From 17 October 2026 to 21 February 2027, the Kai Art Center will host the inaugural exhibition of Korean artist Jane Jin Kaisen's video works, titled 'Island Beyond the Sea,' in the Baltic States. This showcase includes seven films created between 2022 and 2024: 'Burial of this Order' (2022), 'Offering' (2023), 'Halmang' (2023), 'Guardians' (2024), 'Portal' (2024), 'Core' (2024), and 'Wreckage' (2024). This event marks Kaisen's first solo exhibition in an institution within the Baltic region. Born in South Korea in 1980 and currently residing in Denmark, Kaisen's work delves into themes of memory and migration, intertwining personal narratives with broader political contexts. She has earned numerous accolades and showcased her art at various biennales, including representing Korea at the 58th Venice Biennale.
