artist · 2026-05-11

A mural by artist Jan Is De Man has been completed on a private residence in the Beiaard neighborhood of Nieuwegein, Netherlands. The project was initiated as a surprise by the homeowners' three daughters about a year and a half ago. The family was not allowed to interfere in the organization. Funding came from a grant by Geins Geluk, supported by the municipality of Nieuwegein, combined with a crowdfunding campaign. The mural features two carillon bells, referencing the neighborhood name, and includes the artist's trademark tangerine. The words 'Klomp' and 'Delft' are subtly incorporated, referring to the residents' surname and the wife's birthplace. The artist used a doodle grid technique, and the names of the homeowner and his grandson Moos were temporarily displayed on the wall. The mural took several weeks to complete, with the artist engaging with numerous onlookers during the process.
