Jakob+Macfarlane's modular French Pavilion re-staged at Frac Centre-Val de Loire

exhibition · 2026-04-30

The exhibition 'Living With', created by Jakob+Macfarlane for the French Pavilion at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale, has been adapted for display at the Frac Centre-Val de Loire in Orléans. This modular plywood system, which is both demountable and reusable, is combined with pieces from the institution's collection of avant-garde architecture. The show fosters a conversation between modern research and traditional methods, showcasing works by Superstudio, Gianni Pettena, Yona Friedman, Guy Rottier, James Wines (SITE), Graham Stevens, and Günther Domenig alongside Eilfried Huth. After previous exhibitions in Belém, São Paulo, and Chicago, additional shows are scheduled for New Zealand and Los Angeles. The Orléans version features sketches and engineering studies of the historic French Pavilion's integration. It will be open until August 23, 2026, and is linked to the Bourges 2028 European Capital of Culture and the New European Bauhaus Festival.
