Jacques Perconte's 'It's All About Love' at Galerie Ooblik

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Jacques Perconte, a French artist working across photography, video, digital creation, and music, presents 'It's All About Love' at Galerie Ooblik in Lyon from April 29 to May 24, 2008. The exhibition follows his show 'Les arts au mur – artothèque' in Pessac, France (January 17 to April 17, 2008). Perconte's practice explores the interplay of body, landscape, and color through programmed alteration and constant flux. Since 2003, he has photographed his beloved at close range, capturing intimate, fluctuating expanses of the body. These images are then re-photographed on a computer screen, revealing pixels like grains of skin, and integrated into the online work 'I love you.' A custom program, the 'love writing program,' alters each image's source code by replacing a variable with the encoded text 'I love you,' causing pixilation, deformation, color shifts, or subject disappearance. 'It's All About Love' selects images from these processes of decomposition and recomposition, pushing elements of body, landscape, and color to a point of rupture. The work, described by Didier Arnaudet, emphasizes emotional experience over coherent structure, inviting viewers into an intimate, imaginative journey.
