Jacques André's 'Mes organes mes data' at Code Is Law Exhibition

The exhibition 'Code Is Law' at Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles in Paris explores algorithms through artworks, including Jacques André's performance 'Mes organes mes data, exploration n°2'. André critiques connected objects and bio-data collection, using his own body as a test subject. He traces the history of body measurement from ancient standards to modern BMI, invented by Belgian mathematician Antoine Quetelet. The performance, originally presented at Kikk Festival in Namur in 2019, examines how algorithms normalize bodies and influence insurance, health recommendations, and corporate markets. André aims to find a new poetics of the body beyond conformity. The exhibition runs until February 28, 2021, with a vernissage on February 6 featuring a performance by Jonathan Schatz. Due to health restrictions, events may be adapted. Other artists include Antoine Bertin, Laura Colmenares Guerra, and Claire Williams.
