Jacopo Zambello's 'Sprofonda ovunque' transforms Venice gallery into suffocating domestic interior
At 10 & zero uno gallery in Venice, Jacopo Zambello's solo exhibition 'Sprofonda ovunque' (curated by Niccolò Giacomazzi) turns the space into a vintage, almost disheveled home furnished with furniture, lamps, books, a record player, vinyls, clothes, and carpets. Five paintings—all portraits of a young man named Duccio with short hair, sparse beard and chest hair, mostly covered by floral sheets—are hung, leaned, or hidden in a 'closet cabin.' The fifth work, 'Annegare in se stesso' (2025), shows a full torso with the same carpet from the gallery as background, suggesting the painting grants reality to the object. Duccio's eyes are closed in all works; his pubis is visible but not genitals, a restraint from Zambello's usual explicit nudity. The entire exhibition—including artworks, furniture, books, clothes—is for sale on Vinted, as if items to discard. The show runs at Via Garibaldi, in a former butcher shop still partly visible.
