Jacopo Veneziani and Valeria Poli Join Board of Galleria Ricci Oddi in Piacenza
The Galleria d’Arte Moderna Ricci Oddi in Piacenza has appointed two new members to its board of directors: art historian and popularizer Jacopo Veneziani, and local art teacher Valeria Poli. The appointments were made by the municipality of Piacenza to enhance the museum's international profile. Veneziani, born in 1994 in Lungagnano, is a PhD candidate in Art History at the Sorbonne in Paris and a regular guest on Rai 3's program "Le Parole della Settimana." He gained fame for his short art history posts on Twitter. Poli, a teacher at Liceo Cassinari in Piacenza, has published extensively on local history and architecture and was once Veneziani's art history teacher. Mayor Katia Tarasconi and culture assessor Christian Fiazza expressed hope that the new board will work in synergy with local institutions to transition the gallery into a foundation ("ente del terzo settore"), aiming to secure its place in the national and international cultural landscape. Additionally, Veneziani was named President of the gallery, succeeding Fernando Mazzocca. The gallery is known for its collection spanning figurative art, landscape, and portraiture, featuring works by Pellizza da Volpedo, Previati, Segantini, Ravier, Zandomeneghi, and Bocchi, and gained notoriety for the recovery of a stolen Gustav Klimt painting after more than twenty years.
