Jacopo Valentini Reimagines Dante Through Photography at Bologna's Museo Civico Medievale
The exhibition 'Concerning Dante – Autonomous Cell,' curated by Carlo Sala, is currently on display at Bologna's Museo Civico Medievale. It showcases the photography of Jacopo Valentini (born 1990, Modena) alongside the museum's medieval art collection. Valentini's work, which includes a monograph released by Humboldt Books, explores three iconic Italian landscapes: Campi Flegrei, Pietra di Bismantova, and the Po River delta, symbolizing the boundary between the earthly and the divine. The exhibit also highlights Dante's influence in art history, featuring Buffalmacco's 'Triumph of Death' and Federico Zuccari's 'Dante Istoriato.' Additionally, a photograph pays homage to Pier Paolo Pasolini's unfinished work 'La Divina Mimesis' (started in 1963), while engaging with the museum's history, including a statue of Pope Boniface VIII.
