Jacopo di Cera's boat photographs at PAN Napoli

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Milanese artist Jacopo di Cera presents 'Fino alla fine del mare' at PAN | Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli, a photographic series shot in the boat cemetery of Lampedusa. The 30 high-definition color images, printed directly on pieces of the boats themselves, capture fragments of hulls and evoke abstract art through chromatic references to Mark Rothko and Yves Klein, as explained by curator Auronda Scalera. The project bridges photography and painting, using the boats as both subject and material to metaphorically address migration, tragedy, faith, and hope. Di Cera describes Lampedusa as the central Mediterranean passage for those seeking new lands, and his work offers a novel perspective on the urgent humanitarian issue of immigration. The exhibition runs until October 17, 2016.
