Jackson Hole Fine Art Fair: Wyoming's First Major Art Fair
The Jackson Hole Fine Art Fair (JHFAF) will launch from September 12 to 15, 2019, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, marking the state's first major art fair. Organized by ShowHamptons, the fair will feature 55 local and national galleries (names not yet disclosed), with artwork prices ranging from $2,000 to $2 million. The fair targets wealthy collectors from the Midwest, a region executive director Rick Friedman calls "the last untapped art market in the United States." Jackson Hole, known as a ski resort with a population of 10,000 that triples in winter, aims to leverage snow tourism. The fair coincides with the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, a two-week event of craft fairs and design conferences. Friedman describes it as an "elite, boutique fair" and a "semi-private fair for the rich and famous," expecting only 2,500 visitors but with purchasing power equivalent to 25,000 art lovers at other fairs. A financial institution will provide galleries with credit lines and bridge loans.
