Jack Kerouac's paintings on view at MAGA in Gallarate
The Museo MA*GA in Gallarate presents a major exhibition dedicated to the graphic and pictorial production of Jack Kerouac (Lowell, 1922 – St. Petersburg, 1969), father of the Beat Generation. The show includes about one hundred works, ranging from quick sketches to pieces showing affinities with the New York School and Abstract Expressionism, as well as connections with European painting. The exhibition also features documents, studies, and a catalogue published by Skira. Notably, filmmaker Peter Greenaway is working on a new project inspired by the itinerant journey of the car from Kerouac's novel On the Road, and its germinal phases are presented at the opening of the show. The exhibition aligns with the museum's research focus on intertwined paths between modernity and contemporaneity.
