J. Tormento Debuts with 'Ochenta y 8' at El Aleatorio, Madrid

Artist J. Tormento presents his first solo exhibition, 'Ochenta y 8,' curated by Omar Jerez, opening June 3, 2026 at El Aleatorio in Madrid. The show features eight works that subvert totalitarian iconography by merging it with queer imagery, aiming to dismantle oppressive symbols through irony and desire. The title references the neo-Nazi code '88' (HH for Heil Hitler), repurposed to strip it of hate. The project originated from a piece Jerez discovered on Tormento's Instagram, where a Francoist symbol was overlaid with gay iconography. The exhibition runs through September 1, 2026.
